You are still a Slovak citizen, but if you apply for new passport and they recognize you are a US citizen as well, you will loose your Slovak citizenship. It's a new law which the Slovak government wanted to change, but still did not change. In your case, I would anonymously call at the embassy and ask about this. Maybe it is better to wait for the new government in March 2012 and see whether they change the stupid citizenship law. We became naturalized citizens when I was around 12. While I originally had a Slovak passport, that has long since expired. Do I have to completely reapply for citizenship or can I apply to renew my passport? Would that involve having to also apply for a Slovak living abroad status? I appreciate all your help! I left Slovakia in 1993 to come to work in Canada. Since then I obtained Canadian Citizenship...Am I still considered to be Slovakian citizen? I never gave up my Slovakian citizenship, but obtained Canadian. All my family still lives in Slovakia and I travel to Slovakia frequently. Thank you for your time I was born in Slovakia in 1971.
