After winning the 3rd European qualification group for 2010 FIFA World Cup (against Slovenia, Northern Ireland, Poland, Czech Republic and San Marino), Slovakia is playing in the F group of the World Cup against:

Slovak Football
The first official match played the Slovak national team against Germany in August 1939. Team was subsumed into the team of Czechoslovakia after the World War II. Several key players from Slovakia played in Czechoslovak team also in 1976 and participated in winning the European Championship.
After Slovakia became an independent country in 1993, the Slovak team won its first match over United Arab Emirates in February 1994. The team played in Euro ’96 qualifying and finished in third place behind Romania and France, but still won against Israel, Poland and Azerbaijan.
